If you are familiar with Perth, you’ll know that there are many venue options for a drink or two with friends. In fact, making a shortlist of the best bars in Perth is no easy feat.
We’re here to save you some time with a deep dive into the top three options. We’ve done the hard work by sampling the various watering holes around the state (it was hard, trust us) and have whittled it down to the fine establishments.
Read on and get ready to find your new favourite Perth bar. The only thing left to do is make a booking!
While our top three choices for the best bars in Perth are in no particular order, we may have unofficially popped our favourite first. Sweetwater Rooftop Bar in East Freo is a stylish spot where you can sip some of the finest cocktails in Western Australia.
These amazing drinks pair perfectly with the Asian-inspired seasonal menu that is continually changing to offer something new every time you visit. Catering to all dietary requirements, the regular menu has staples like crispy duck, water chestnut wontons, karaage chicken and much more.
The best way to sample this delicious menu is by heading down on Sundays for the yum cha brunch featuring nine dishes. We especially recommend the vegan yum cha menu, which boasts caramelised eggplant and fermented black bean san choi boi and kale, tempeh and apple dumplings, both of which will still be on your mind come Monday. You can also have a similar dining experience any other night of the week, thanks to the Chef’s Feed Me menu at $65pp.
If you do opt for a big Sunday brunch, pair it with the one of the specially crafted cocktails on the menu. Notable mentions that are certainly worth a sip from the cocktail menu include the Lost in the Clouds, a take on a pina colada, or Sweetwater Smash, which is perfect for bourbon fans.
After all of this, if you still manage to have room, the dessert menu includes a Roasted White Chocolate Parfait parfait with raspberry. At this point, we assume you’ve stopped reading and are already on your way to the venue.
The vibe is always on point with DJs spinning great tunes and a luxe fit-out that will have you snapping some very good looking memories with your friends.

The Aviary is appropriately named as it is a rooftop bar that sits above William Street, offering a view of the Perth CBD below. However, the best part about this two-storey space is that it caters to all tastes.
The venue is split into two separate areas:
The Lounge Bar
The Rooftop Bar
The Lounge Bar is the feature on level one, with a more relaxed vibe where you can enjoy a cocktail and a chat. This is where private events are held and is the most stylish area of the venue!
The Rooftop Bar is one of Perth’s original open air rooftop bars where the vibe is always set to summer. There are cocktails, umbrellas and a DJ keeping the tunes fresh. Bet it after-work drinks, a weekend brunch or dancing into the night.
The Aviary is a great choice. As Perth’s largest rooftop bar, you’ll enjoy amazing drinks and bar menu staples like salads, burgers, and pizzas. Try the ‘Bottomless Bubbles & Brunch’ every weekend (10.30 am – 12.30 pm) and let the party roll on into the night.
Wolf Lane is an if-you-know-you-know spot that locals adore. You’ll find it in the middle of the city, down an alleyway off Murray street, signified by some street art of a little boy in a wolf costume. This small, quirky and unique bar ticks all of the boxes, be it for an after-work drink or late-night rendevous.
The loft-style bar has exposed bricks, high ceilings and vintage furniture, which is all the setting for a very extensive drinks list, bar snacks and share plates. Less for meals and more for drinks and a catch up with some snacks, this venue is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 12 am while also offering private events and functions throughout the rest of the week.
The vibe of Wolf Lane is fantasy meets reality, leaning into the world of fairytales for décor inspiration. From the Mad Hatter’s tea party to paintings of Snow White, the bar is dark and intimate in the most charming of ways.
The boutique beers, large wine list and cocktail selection are impressive for such a small space, and we strongly recommend the ‘teapot’ cocktails that will cover you are your friends for a few rounds. The ‘poison apple’ cocktail mixes gin, elderflower, strawberry liquor, strawberry jam, cloudy apple juice and absinthe making for a must-try, or you can opt for the ‘queen of hearts’ which blends vodka, peach liquor, cranberry juice, lemon and lime – refreshing!
If you are looking for something different, fun and delicious, wind your way down the rabbit hole into Wolf Lane, it will be a night to remember for sure!
The Victoria Park Hotel is a local secret right in the heart of Victoria Park that has been around since 1927. The heritage architecture has been given some modern updates making for a very comfy spot to eat, drink and catch up with your mates.
They have a huge selection of local and imported beers on tap, a significant wine list, and an affordable pub-style menu that will easily get you a schnitty or burger to match your drink of choice.
Don’t leave before you check out their newly renovated beer garden. Designed with families in mind, it features a playground and kids menu, plus a fully kitted out bar to save you the walk inside!
As a fun little bonus, you can even get a haircut while you enjoy a pint from Leo at the New York Barber Shop, which is situated inside the Victoria Park Hotel! This means you can hit the pub or sports bar looking as fresh as possible with ease!
The Guildford Hotel is the spot for some insane cocktails matched with cob loafs, a two footer steak sanga and fries. One of Perth’s oldest establishments, this heritage pub offers relaxed lunches and dinners within its modern makeover or exquisite beer garden.
The menu is pretty simple, burgers and the pitmaster’s selection featuring smoked, slow-cooked BBQ meats and the Whole Damn Lot platter, which certainly needs to be shared.
When it cools down, we recommend the Winterville sessions, which feature a Christmas in July-style three-course feast paired with interactive drinks. You can even take a BBQ masterclass out in the beer garden! It’s all happening here, and your tastebuds will thank you.
