Wear It Purple Day 2024

Our pubs turn purple…

On the 30th of August 2024, AVC painted our pubs purple. Team members across Australia and New Zealand showed up to work in purple and got involved.

Wear It Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people where everybody has the right to be proud of who they are.

For every person that came to their shift in something purple, Australian Venue Co. donated $5 to Minus18 and New Zealand Venue Co. donated $5 to Rainbow Youth.

Minus18 is an organisation passionate about leading change, building social inclusion and advocating for LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia. Rainbow Youth promote safe, inclusive, accepting and diverse environments for the LGBTQIA+ community and work with young people, their whānau and their wider communities to provide safe and respectful support.

This year’s theme for the day was “YOUR PASSION, YOUR PRIDE.” This is an important message that calls for rainbow youth to express their true selves and follow their dreams. Wear It Purple Day was an opportunity for us here at AVC to show that we are proud of our LGBTQIA+ team members and customers, and they should be proud too.

Just under 400 of our friendly faces bought smiles with their purple get-ups on the day raising money for the amazing Minus18 and Rainbow Youth.
