Australian Venue Co. is committed to promoting an equal and diverse environment for our staff, customers and broader community.

Community Bonds and Workplace Happiness // AVC Supporting LGBTQIA+

We recognise this as being essential in delivering welcoming and safe spaces for all. Our AdVanCe LGBTQIA+ program is designed to help support as well as promote an open and welcoming environment across our business for all our LGBTQIA+ community.

AVC has always embraced all things glitter and glam, being stallholders at Midsumma Festival, Big Gay Day – Brisbane’s biggest LGBTQIA+ event, Mardi Gras friendly activities and residential drag queens across multiple venues in each state.

Mardi Gras 2021 is around the corner and The Winery Surry Hills, Sydney and The Wickham, Brisbane have been chosen as official viewing partners of the parade! The staff are ready to don their loudest outfits, glitter up and host epic events in support of Mardi Gras!

The Winery, Sydney

Each year, The Winery participates in Mardi Gras activities, and this year is no different. Enter through the Pride Rainbow path, where resident drag queen Pomara Fifth will greet you with a Camptastic Cocktail to get the crowd warmed up for a live and loud broadcast of the parade. There will be DJs playing camp hits into the night plus a dedicated themed cocktail list. $2 from each cocktail in the month of March will support the  Minus18 Foundation who are champions for LGBTQIA+ youths.

The Wickham, Brisbane

The Wickham is getting ready for Big Gay Day, Sunday 2nd May where they celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. For all their hard work, they have been chosen to host an official Mardi Gras viewing party over in Brissy! Their first-ever Mardi Gras and they are going big with local entertainment all in support of the LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation. The evening is hosted by fabulous Paul Wheeler, a live art installation by Imogen Peach, and a line-up of entertainment including drag performances, live music & more.

In the spirit of reconciliation, Australian Venue Co. acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
